From New Zealand breeding, this vigorous variety was voted the best in commercial grower taste tests in 2006. The consistently uniform, green spears are so tender and stringless, they can be eaten raw or sliced in salads. This long lasting variety is highly regarded for its heavy yields and superior flavour. Unlike many traditional varieties, Asparagus ‘Pacific 2000’ is suitable for either spring or autumn planting. Although asparagus beds take several years to establish, each asparagus crown can produce up to 25 spears per year and will continue cropping for 25 years. Height: 150cm (59”). Spread: 45 cm (18”).

Purple asparagus is thought by many people to be considerably sweeter than the sweetest green types. Stewarts Purple, the latest variety, produces spears that have less fibre and are particularly tender with virtually no waste. Asparagus Crowns Purple Passion
An excellent addition to any asparagus planting, Purple Passion produces a bountiful harvest of very mild, sweet-tasting spears that are a delight to eat. The spears are thicker in diameter than green cultivars, and their sugar content is 20% higher too!We supply one year old crowns, grown in East Anglia, which can be picked as soon as the year after planting. Plants crop for well over 10 years, and established beds can be cut from emergence of the first spears until mid-late June. Crops for up to 15 years.. Pack of 10 Crowns. . . . .
