Artichoke - Green Globe
We must admit that for the space globe artichokes take up they are hardy high yielders but their architectural quality makes them virtually dual purpose.So why not grow them in the herbaceous border? Just boil remove the leaf scales one by one dip them in melted butter and then suck out the juicy flesh from each scale. Beautiful and delicious!
Asparagus Pea
We admit it - it's not asparagus and it's not a pea but it's rather tasty! This unusual vegetable has a unique flavour a bit like a cross between tender asparagus and fresh young peas. Very easy to grow and does not require any support. Asparagus Peaavery pretty plant which looks as good in the flower border as it does in the vegetable plot. Pick the curiously shaped 'pods' when they are no more than 2cm (1in) long and lightly steam them.
Aubergine - Moneymaker
Try this exotic looking vegetable. An outstanding early variety producing crops of large deep purple fruits. Aubergines need a sheltered sunny position. These superb qualityfruits are both ornamental and tasty!
Beetroot - Boltardy
Our most popular beetroot and no wonder! Boltardy can be sown early in the year right through to mid summer for successional crops and is slow to run to seed. It yields perfect globe shaped beets of superb flavour and colour and its flesh is usually free of unsightly rings.

Beetroot - Detroit 2 Seeds
A reliable all round performer.Detroit is a heavy cropper producing uniformly globe beets of good quality. Early to crop thin alternate roots to use as baby beet and allow the rest to grow on to maturity.
Beetroot - Kestrel
Perfect beetroot every time. Kestrel is a high quality variety yielding smooth round beets whether grown in the usual way or at closer spacing for the sweetest baby beet. Sow them where you want them to grow or grow in cells for transplanting.
Broad Bean - Aquadulce Claudia Seeds
A very hardy longpod variety which grows nicely in warm soiland is tough enough to over-winter. It yields well and produces tender white beans of good quality. Freeze any surplus for future use. Do not sow later than mid January. Requires Support.
Broad Bean - Bunyards Exhibition
Introduce over a hundred years ago and still going strong! Well suited to both spring or autumn sowings Bunyards takes some beating for all round performance. This long podded variety has 8-9 white beans per pod with delicious flavour and texture.Excellent fresh or frozen. Requires support.
Broad Bean - Masterpiece Green Longpod
An early variety which produces a 6-7 flavoursome beans per pod.The attractive green beans when picked young have a lovely flavour and are excellent for freezing. Requires support.
Broad Bean - Optica
An abundant cropper in recent trials and the winner of a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit Optica is an excellent modern variety. Lower growing than many broad beans it is therefore well suited to even small gardens. It yields 5 or 6 white beans per pod and if picked when very young the pods can also be eaten. Optica has an outstanding flavour and the beans freeze well for future eating. We recommend this variety most highly. Requires support.
